Board Unanimously Denies Carport Variance at 17 Christopher Drive

Board of Appeals · Meeting of February 12, 2026

Milton Board of Appeals unanimously denies variance for unpermitted carport. Ryan Nguyen and Tracy Nguyen sought relief to maintain a carport they built without permits at 17 Christopher Drive, proposing to reduce its dimensions from 12.9 feet by 35 feet by 14 feet tall to 12 feet by 27 feet by 11 feet 6 inches. Chair Kathleen O'Donnell, Esq., and Members Nicholas S Gray, Esq., and Michael Brown voted unanimously to deny the request, finding the structure violated setback requirements under the town's Residence C zoning bylaw.

The Board heard three letters of support and one letter of opposition, with the neighbor's daughter speaking against the structure during public comment.
