Climate Action Committee endorses two Climate Leader Community documents.

Milton's Climate Action Planning Committee unanimously endorsed two municipal documents required for state Climate Leader Community designation by June 30. Chair Dr. Alexander Hasha and five voting members approved the Municipal Decarbonization Roadmap and Zero-Emission Vehicle First Policy, both of which require Select Board adoption.
The CLC designation would unlock up to $1 million in implementation funding per grant cycle and up to $150,000 in technical assistance. The Roadmap identifies trigger events for replacing heating and cooling systems in the Town's 10 largest buildings, which emit more than 90 percent of municipal building emissions; the High School assessment projects ground-source heat pump costs of approximately $50 million for that building alone. The Committee conditioned its Roadmap endorsement on staff verification of the active vehicle fleet before Select Board review.
