MILTON — Climate Action Planning Committee votes unanimously on letter supporting EEA Planning Assistance Grant. The $50,000 grant application, led by Assistant Director of Planning Avante Grady and Planning Director Liz Manning, would fund consultant support advancing Milton's Climate Action Plan toward implementation. Municipal Energy Manager Kai Mueller reported that the town was selected for a battery storage feasibility study at Town Hall and Fire Headquarters through the Advancing Massachusetts Power program (March to June 2026), and announced two proposed town meeting articles authorizing solar net metering agreements providing a 17.5% discount on municipal electricity and a Solect solar lease at $0.05 per kilowatt hour over 20 years versus the current $0.28 rate.
Mueller alerted the committee that a Massachusetts House energy affordability bill would cut MassSave funding by $1 billion within the current three-year cycle, reducing remaining funds from $2.2 billion to $1.2 billion, with his position as Municipal Energy Manager funded through the program.
