CLIMATE PANEL COMMITS TO COMMUNITY EDUCATION MEETINGS

Milton's Climate Action Planning Committee voted unanimously to approve prior meeting minutes and committed to launching community education meetings on climate and sustainability topics in spring. Dr. Alexander Hasha presided over a seven-member quorum discussing federal environmental policy rollbacks; the committee resolved to continue local climate work unchanged, noting Massachusetts' robust state policies.
The Waste and Materials Working Group reported recycling contamination rates climbing to 21 percent against a 10 percent target, raising costs for contractor Waste Management; the group committed to community outreach. Ron Israel and Matt Panucci will organize the first community education meeting, focused on conservation, for April or May.
