Community Preservation Committee approves $750,000 bond for Wharf Park.

MILTON — The Milton Community Preservation Committee approved its first-ever bond request. The committee voted 8-0-1 to recommend a $750,000 bond issuance for the Wharf Park project, part of a $1.5 million overall budget. Applicant Scott Mackay presented design revisions that saved $56,000 by raising the lawn, reducing wall length by 22 feet, and narrowing the space from 70 to 64 feet.
Town Treasurer Johanna McCarthy explained that a $750,000 bond at 4.5% over 15 years would generate annual debt service between $72,000 and $82,000. The bond requires approval at Town Meeting in May and may be bundled with the town's planned Fire Station and Cunningham School issuance in August or September.
