Select Board approves FY27 budget and community media legislation support

MILTON — Select Board votes to approve $155.7 million Fiscal Year 2027 budget with 3.95 percent overall increase. Town Administrator Nicholas Milano presented the budget, which includes $75.6 million for Milton Public Schools, an 8 percent health insurance premium increase, and a new $90,000 technical support coordinator position in the Police Department. The Board also voted 4-0-1 to support pending state legislation S.2556 that would impose a 5 percent fee on digital streaming providers to fund community media operations; Representative Richard Wells Jr. abstained as a co-sponsor of the House companion bill.

Town currently holds 7.38 percent subsidized housing inventory and expects to reach permanent Safe Harbor status of 10.34 percent upon completion of pending 40B residential developments.
