MILTON — Shade Tree Advisory Committee updates tree planting schedules and budgets. Co-Chairs Fred Taylor and Nancy Chisholm oversaw approval of prior minutes and received reports on 50 spring trees ordered by DPW with 17 already planted; 56 resident requests filed as of April 5, including a 16-request spike after Helen Russell's Milton Times article. Eversource committed nine trees to Edge Hill Road and seven to Plymouth Avenue.
Two Elm trees planted April 11 at Mary C. Lane will launch an Arbor Day event, with watering duty to transfer to Parks Department. The committee approved a three-year planting strategy targeting Pierce Middle School and Brook Road and plans to seek funding from the Conservation Commission's $129,000 wetlands violations account.
