Milton Shade Tree Advisory Committee urges action on tree care staffing gap. Tree Warden Branch B. Lane detailed persistent deficiencies in the Department of Public Works, including inadequate pruning, failure to remove stakes and straps, inconsistent watering, and incomplete stump grinding.
Lane recommended hiring a professional tree manager from a landscaping company to oversee planting and maintenance. Committee member William Madden will request that DPW manager Tom McCarthy attend the September 9 DPW-STAC meeting to discuss the proposal. The committee also discussed the planned Wharf Park redesign, which will likely require removal of a large red oak tree to accommodate safety and accessibility improvements.
