Shade Tree panel backs $40K in tree funding over DPW request.

Shade Tree Advisory Committee · Meeting of January 13, 2026

MILTON — The Shade Tree Advisory Committee backed a $40,000 budget request for street shade trees and vacancy reduction, exceeding the Department of Public Works' $25,000 bid. Co-Chairs Nancy Chisholm and Fred Taylor moved a letter to the Warrant Committee seeking $30,000 for a minimum of 140 trees and $10,000 for vacancy mitigation. Member William Madden will present the request to Town Administrator Nick Milano during a meeting with DPW leadership.

The committee also advanced a Mary C. Lane tree grant project with selected oak and tulip tree species and confirmed Eversource's ongoing commitment to donate approximately 10 trees annually to the town.
