Warrant Committee approves CPC Wharf Park grant request; discusses school budget cuts

MILTON — Warrant Committee examines warrant articles for May Annual Town Meeting. The committee heard presentations on a $750,000 Community Preservation Committee grant toward Wharf Park renovation, to be funded through 15-year bonding at 4.5 percent interest with annual debt service of $72,000 to $82,000; and the FY27 school budget, which eliminates 7.9 full-time-equivalent positions totaling $711,137 in cuts despite a 3.76 percent budget increase, and expands circuit breaker reserves from less than $9,000 to $2.7 million over four years. Committee members Elaine Craghead and Julia Maxwell affirmed confidence in the school department's planning and sustainability focus.
