Board of Health · Meeting of October 26, 2026
MILTON — The Milton Board of Health voted unanimously to condemn two buildings at 9 Thatcher Street and approved a series of opioid abatement grants. Health Director Caroline Kinsella cited Massachusetts General Law Chapter 111, Section 127B, and 105 CMR 410 in formally declaring both structures unfit for human habitation. The board awarded $1,200 to the Hope Center, a Norfolk County Sheriff's Department recovery-support program, and extended its $20,000 Milton-based projects grant deadline to January 31.
Member Deborah Milbauer warned that "the capacity of the health department to do inspections of this magnitude worries me" as the board weighed who will regulate roughly 70 identified short-term rental units townwide. The board also reappointed Massachusetts Health Officers Association inspectors for tobacco compliance checks and voted to request $1,000 for a townwide translation line.
