Milton Conservation Commission approved drainage plans for two new houses, conditioning one on rhododendron protection. The board voted 5-0 Tuesday to approve orders of conditions for projects at 120 Highland Street and 26 Bartons Lane. Chairman John Kiernan and members Arthur Doyle, Wendy Garpow, Thomas Palmer and Georgia Lee required engineer Jim DeSalle's client to measure and potentially replace a rhododendron hedge an arborist estimated at "about 75 years old, quite sizable and still quite healthy," while engineer Adam Islam of Boston Civil presented drainage data showing reduced runoff at Bartons Lane across all storm sizes.
The commission also heard resident John David Corey pitch a volunteer restoration of brook-side views near Unquity Road, and continued discussion of a roughly $30,000 enforcement fine, at $300 a day, tied to unpermitted tree removal at 45 Riverside Avenue.
