Finance Committee · Meeting of September 22, 2026
MILTON — The Milton Finance Committee voted 10-0, with one abstention, to recommend cutting the PEG Access Fund appropriation from $500,000 to $450,000. Town Finance Director Amy Dexter said the state Department of Revenue flagged the original figure as too high given declining collections from cable carriers Comcast and RCN while the town set its fiscal 2027 tax rate. The Select Board had voted to add the corrective article to the Town Meeting warrant only an hour before the Finance Committee's emergency session.
Member Ron Seale explained that PEG funding depends on a shrinking share of cable revenue that supports Milton Access TV. Dexter called the change procedural, saying "we would never pay out more" than actual collections allow. Jay Fundling was the lone abstention; Nick Tang made the motion to advance the item to a vote.
