Milton Warrant Committee approves minutes, assigns fall subcommittees

Milton Warrant Committee opens fall cycle without voting on its costliest fall articles. Town Moderator Liz Dillon told new members Levita Johnson and Lindsay Sands the committee is "definitely not a rubber stamp" as Chair Jay Fundling assigned subcommittees to a possible school-site land purchase, a short-term rental bylaw, and additional Atherton fire station funding potentially including $1 million to $2 million in Community Preservation Act money. Fundling said the town would be asked to buy land at the so-called Laboree site "before we're going to fund the school," with the purchase price still under confidential Select Board negotiation.

The committee unanimously approved its April 13 minutes, corrected to reference the "joint budget committee," and deferred votes on its own representatives to that committee and the Capital Improvement Planning Committee to a meeting expected around August 10. Fundling proposed standing public Zoom meetings for subcommittees to avoid open-meeting-law posting delays.
