Milton Town Meeting approved its first bond backed by Community Preservation Act funds for a Wharf Park renovation. Members voted 141-52, clearing the required two-thirds threshold at 72 percent, to bond $750,000 toward a $1.2 million rehabilitation of the town's only public waterfront park. Precinct 7's Brian Kelly called the project's $450,000 private-fundraising claim "a red herring," noting only about $9,000 had been raised toward a related $75,000 goal; CPC Chair Tom Callahan countered that more than 100 of the state's 201 CPA communities have already bonded for projects.
The same meeting approved a $75,613,973 school budget 200-4, a $500,000 PEG Access Enterprise Fund appropriation 201-2, and $1,051,823 in CPA grants for 11 projects on a 199-4 vote. The meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m. with nine articles still pending for Monday.
