Milton Finance Committee advances property-tax exemption doubling for veterans and seniors in a 4-2-2 vote. The committee recommended town meeting approve Article 36, which would double existing exemptions for qualifying veterans, seniors over age 70, surviving spouses, and minor children of deceased parents, while also tying certain veteran credits to annual consumer-price-index increases under the state's Hero Act. A proposed sign bylaw overhaul was not voted on after members raised questions about liability insurance for community groups, political signs in storefronts, and real estate office window displays; the committee is targeting a vote at its session two weeks out.
