MILTON — April 15, 2026 — Milton's school finance subcommittee voted 3-0 to approve a backlog of meeting minutes and pushed two financial policies toward a full school committee vote on April 29, while also extensively reworking a draft budget presentation for the May 6 annual town meeting. The subcommittee chair, identified only as Mark, said he will seek clarification from Town Administrator Nick and town counsel Winston on whether Milton can transfer year-end school budget surpluses directly into the special education stabilization fund without a town meeting vote — a legal question that hinges on the original Baker administration account framework. John, citing Marblehead, Winchester, and Marshfield as communities where override votes failed or budgets fell short, urged the committee to frame the presentation around Milton's April 2025 override as a kept promise to voters.
