Milton Select Board reaches consensus on three FY27 budget investments totaling roughly $295,000. Town Administrator Nicholas Milano told the board Tuesday that less-than-anticipated expenses, boosted by a late $100,000 reduction in the town's general insurance budget, had grown to approximately $425,000 in available room — enough to cover a new civilian police technology coordinator at $120,000, a $60,000 economic development plan appropriation through the master plan committee, and the full $120,000 cost of a traffic calming policy and plan. A proposed $500,000 free cash transfer to school reserves was left unresolved, with Member Winston Daley pressing for documented school reserve plans before any appropriation, telling colleagues, "I don't want to remove those purposeful conversation stop points." The board also faces a projected $1.5 million snow and ice deficit for fiscal 2026, more than double the town's historical average, with Milano reporting the town will draw on departmental savings to absorb as much of the shortfall as possible before the fall tax rate setting.

Chair Benjamin Zoll announced publicly he will not seek re-election to the board.
