Milton Select Board rejected a long-debated local historic district and picked a new town auditor. Board members voted against including the Milton Village Local Historic District bylaw in the fall special town meeting warrant after business owner J.D. Wild and other property owners argued the proposal would add costly delays without broad support; the roll call showed one member in favor, three opposed and one abstention. Finance Director Amy Dexter, presenting for the Audit Committee, said members called a competing bid from Clifton Larson Allen LLP "cost prohibitive" at $306,000 and instead recommended incumbent CBiz CPAs PC at $250,500 for fiscal 2027-29.
The board also approved fiscal 2027 water and sewer rate increases of 3.5 percent and 2 percent, and heard a DLR Group presentation pricing early childhood center options at the former Laboure College site between $42 million and $85 million.
