Select Board votes 4-0-1 to study Labouré school site
Milton's Select Board voted 4-0-1 to pursue a school-site analysis of the former Labouré College campus as an alternative to the Gile Road project.
Select Board · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Milton's Select Board voted 4-0-1 to pursue a school-site analysis of the former Labouré College campus as an alternative to the Gile Road project. Chair Winston Daley confirmed the town has a $1.75 million agreement in principle to buy the 303 Adams Street property, pending approval at the October 19 Special Town Meeting. The board also approved $8,775,000 and $17,225,000 in general obligation bonds at interest costs of 3.43 percent and 4.38 percent, respectively, and set December 15 for a Labouré debt exclusion special election.
Member John Driscoll warned "we're definitely going to need a couple overrides," while Secretary Peter Obersheimer abstained on the Labouré study vote. Member Meghan Haggerty pushed for a full accounting of operating costs, saying those "have not been paid close enough attention to." The board also approved the warrant for the Special Town Meeting, which includes a citizen petition on surveillance technology that Town Counsel says may raise executive-authority concerns.
