Milton's Board of Appeals approved a special permit for a kitchen addition and deck replacement at 77 Morton Road. Board member Virginia Donahue King, who presided as zoning administrator, granted the permit after closing the evidentiary hearing with no opposition raised. Attorney Mary McKetrick, representing applicants Paul and Margaret Schmidt, told the board the project adds just 8.24 square feet of nonconforming area, extending 4.12 feet into space currently occupied by exterior stairs.
McKetrick called it "a very small increase in the nonconformity" that would improve privacy for the abutting neighbor. Five neighboring addresses submitted letters of support, and King said she saw "no increased detriment to the neighborhood whatsoever" before awarding the permit.
