Milton CPC Fields Record 22 Funding Applications

Other Committee · Meeting of June 8, 2026

Milton's Community Preservation Committee fielded a record 22 funding applications totaling about $6 million against roughly $1.1 million available. Chair Tom Callahan called it potentially "our most challenging year." The Tucker Elementary PTO, represented by co-president Marika Goldin-Silva, sought $300,000 toward a $1.4 million playground rebuild, with Milton Housing Authority Executive Director Earl Fay separately asking the committee to consider funding $200,000 toward roughly $2.2 million in building-envelope repairs for 39 elderly and disabled units, calling current capital funding "impossible" against the need. The Milton Cemetery requested $220,000 to stabilize its 1879 receiving tomb, and the Milton Historical Society sought $70,000 for window restoration.

No votes were taken on any application; the committee plans recommendations by July 20.
