Committee Appoints Loring to School Design Panel

School Committee · Meeting of September 2, 2026

Milton posted the best school attendance of any traditional district in Massachusetts. Superintendent John Phelan told the School Committee the district filled 70 of 77 staff openings this summer and welcomed three new cabinet hires, while new larger buses caused late pickups he said left families with "nothing but a worry." Chair Mark Loring reported Pierce Middle School ranked first statewide for attendance and Collicot seventh. The committee voted unanimously to adopt its four SY27 goals and to appoint Loring to the state's 13-member architect-selection panel for the Gile Road school project, after the School Building Committee reported hiring PMA as owner's project manager.

Members also approved amended August 19 minutes and signed warrants totaling $905,263.54 across two payments.
