School Committee · Meeting of September 23, 2026
Milton's School Committee budget session set an FY28 planning calendar and reviewed a $1.1 million technology capital request. Bob Patterson, who oversees the district's technology systems, detailed a $383,000 quote to replace failing camera servers and estimated a full phone-system replacement at roughly $400,000 after outages at the Tucker and Glover schools disrupted parent communication. "It doesn't just, it's not the same amount the next year it compounds," Patterson said of unfunded capital requests.
Members tentatively set October 14 for a combined FY28 budget rollover and Q1 FY27 financial review, and discussed a proposed three-year framework for incremental transportation, athletics and community-schools fee increases developed with Martha St. Paul, deferring a separate facility-rental-fee discussion. The committee unanimously approved minutes from its September 9 and June 26 meetings before adjourning.
