Milton Planning Board Authorizes $44,200 Zoning Recodification Contract in Unanimous Vote

MILTON — April 23, 2026 — Milton Planning Board unanimously approves $44,200 zoning recodification contract and advances sign bylaw amendment to annual town meeting. The board, meeting April 23 with Chair DePaul presiding and member Jim Davis attending his final session, voted to authorize a contract with Town Counsel Carolyn Murray for a phased review and amendment of the town's zoning bylaws, drawing on $27,272 in fiscal year 2026 planning funds already encumbered and the balance from a $35,000 fiscal year 2027 appropriation pending town meeting approval. A second unanimous vote advanced an amendment to Article 42 of the sign bylaw, extending the building commissioner's application review window from seven days to 30 days. DePaul voiced sharp concern about the pace of the town's housing production plan process — "because we have an expired housing production plan, we run the risk of another 40B coming in" — as the board deferred to May 14 a decision on which members will fill its two seats on a new six-member Housing Production Plan Advisory Committee established by the Select Board. Annual town meeting is scheduled to begin May 6.
