MILTON — A Milton town committee unanimously endorsed the Milton Housing Authority's $200,000 Community Preservation Act grant request for a $2.3 million building renovation. Executive Director Earl Fay told the committee the 65 Miller Avenue complex, housing 39 elderly and disabled residents, has an original 1985 building envelope with poor insulation and no community-space HVAC. The project already has a $600,000 commitment from the town's Affordable Housing Trust and a pending state HILAP matching grant.
Member Maggie Oakfield added language on the complex's neighborhood design to the committee's letter, calling it "a great valuable asset to the town." The committee also spent over an hour reviewing an AI-assisted draft presentation on Milton's climate action plan, with members Steve Popkin and Arthur Doyle pushing for more resident-focused economic messaging. Doyle said residents most need "economic information data to help them move in the direction of investing in energy efficiency."
