MILTON — A Milton financial forecasting committee debated whether the town should rely on one consolidated budget forecast or keep allowing separate versions from the town and Warrant Committee. Committee member Mark Loring said "the goal of this group should be to create a consolidated forecast," while fellow member Amy warned competing forecasts "gets very confusing" for the public. A town finance staff member identified as Nick reported Milton is "coming off a 14 percent premium increase" on health insurance and now faces an 8 percent increase, while the town's snow and ice budget rises to $250,000 in fiscal 2027 despite actual costs running above $500,000 some years.

The group reviewed survey responses from 11 of 13 members on forecasting practices and agreed to pursue twice-monthly meetings from October through February ahead of the December 1 Warrant Committee budget deadline.
